Project brief

A 6-month instructional design contract to build a full eLearning system for the warehouse and customer-facing team at Equipsy, a Melbourne-based mobility aids company. The challenge was to reduce client dissatisfaction and delays caused by errors in the pick packing process, and to create a scalable onboarding system from scratch.

Key ingredients

  • 8 modules from onboarding to pick packing process A to Z
  • Video scripts, directing, filming, and editing
  • LMS selection, setup, and implementation
  • SME interviews and needs analysis
  • Articulate Storyline development
  • iSpring Suite LMS configuration

The Parlour Method, applied

The recipe

Same five stages as every scoop on the homepage, flavoured for this project.

  1. 1Empathise

Sat down with SMEs and the warehouse team to investigate pain points. Heard directly that inconsistent pick packing was causing client dissatisfaction and delays for people with disabilities waiting on mobility aids.

  2. 2Define and Imagine

Named the real problem: there was no shared standard for onboarding or pick packing. Imagined a single, scalable system that worked for new hires and seasoned staff, online and on the floor.

  3. 3Ideate and Wow

Scoped an 8-module program across the full warehouse journey: onboarding, stocking, restocking, barcode scanner use, pick packing A to Z, and client-facing installation. Benchmarked against NDIS training standards.

  4. 4Prototype and Build

Decoded every workflow with SMEs, then built all 8 modules in Articulate Storyline. Directed, filmed, and edited real footage in the warehouse and in clients' homes during actual installations.

  5. 5Test and What Works

Evaluated 5 LMS platforms with live demos. Recommended and implemented iSpring Suite end-to-end: users, attendance, reporting. Validated by reduced pick packing errors and a fully handed-over system.

6 months. 8 modules. One complete system. 🦽

What this contract taught me 🧁

🎙

SMEs are your best resource

The warehouse team knew every pain point intimately. My job was to ask the right questions, not assume I understood their process.

🎬

Real footage beats stock every time

Filming in the actual warehouse and in clients' homes made the training immediately credible and recognisable to the team.

⚙️

LMS selection is a design decision

Choosing the wrong LMS can undermine even the best content. Evaluating platforms against real team needs before recommending one was as important as building the modules.
